Generally I really recommend using just plain olde water - a damp towel seems to work well. Using chemical cleaners (Windex, Formula 409, etc..) can leave a residue that can affect the robot's traction on the mat. If your mat is REALLY REALLY dirty, you can use a cleaner that is Ammonia-FREE (ammonia chemically damages many plastic surfaces) and be sure to go back over it with water to clean off any residue. When your finger squeaks across the black printed circle on the mat (or there's lots of "traction") then you know you're okay.
