Hello,

One of our teams is asking if they can use a ball caster wheel which is made for the NXT set but is not sold through LEGO. Can you please tell us if this is allowed? The link to it is here: http://www.mindsensors.com/index.php?mo ... AGE_id=122.

Thanks!

I'm afraid that is not a legal element to use in this competition. One note about using really small caster wheels is that they tend to only work well on hard surfaces - when the surface area of the caster wheel touching the surface is so small, and the surface is a soft surface such as a mat, it tends to cause the mat to "wrinkle" and "pinch" causing the robot to stray off-course. I recommend not using caster wheels based on a "ball" unless the ball is quite large (like the balls provided in NXT kits).
